ByteTok founder Zhang Yiming.
TikTok’s parent company, ByteTok, announced today (20) that Zhang Yiming will step down from his position as CEO of the company and hand over to co-founder Liang Rupo to take over, and the handover is expected to be completed within six months.
In an internal letter sent to employees, Zhang Yiming pointed out that although the company’s development is good, but he lacks some of the skills of a mature manager, and is not good at social, coupled with a busy work schedule has not studied for 3 years, almost in the “old capital”. Therefore, ByteDance needs a more suitable person to strengthen the company’s daily management and growth, and continue to create new breakthroughs.
Therefore, Zhang Yiming decided to step down from the CEO position and focus on long-term important matters such as visionary strategy, corporate culture and social responsibility, and will focus on learning and researching new things for the next ten years while continuing to work for the company.
Co-founder Liang Rupo was selected to take over the CEO position. Zhang Yiming said that ByteDance was the second company co-founded by the two, during which Liang Rupo was mainly responsible for product development, efficiency engineering, and group human resources, and many of the company’s operations were done in collaboration between the two. During the next six months of conversion, the two will continue to work together to ensure that the handover process is completed at the end of the year.
