A ceasefire between Israel and Gaza terror groups could take effect as early as tomorrow, The Times of Israel reports, citing the Wall Street Journal. But concerns were expressed about Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The Wall Street Journal reports that a cease-fire between Israel and Gaza terror groups could take effect as early as tomorrow.
Sources involved in the discussions told the outlet that talks between Egyptian mediators and leaders of the Hamas terror group have progressed and that Israel “privately acknowledged” that it is close to achieving all of its military objectives.
The report said Washington believes that barring any unforeseen events, the cease-fire could take effect this week and that the only question is one of timing.
However, a U.S. official told the outlet that Palestinian Islamic Jihad remains an unknown quantity – the newspaper called the terror group a variable – and could continue to attack even after a cease-fire is agreed upon.
The White House declined to comment on the report.
