After the building shook for the first time on the 18th, a 20-year-old master’s thesis from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, “Review of Shenzhen Saige Square Construction Project,” went viral on the Internet.
The paper pointed out that the construction of the Sage Building, a landmark building in Shenzhen, had many problems, including modifying the design while construction, designing after construction, and starting construction before the design drawings were done.
The paper mentioned that the most serious problem of Sage Building was the vibration of the antenna on the roof of the building, and the problem was only discovered after the roof was closed, and the antenna was finally sawed off and replaced by another one.

The video of the building shaking on the 18th shows the two antennas on the roof swaying violently. Netizens questioned whether this was the cause of the building’s swaying.
At about 1:00 p.m. local time on the 18th, the Sage building shaking, the people inside the building panicked and fled. According to land media reports, the 19th between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm, the building again appeared shaking.

According to public information, the Sage Building is located in Futian District, Shenzhen, and was built with direct investment from Shenzhen Sage Group Co. The 71-story building, with a total height of 355.8 meters and a real height of 292 meters, is now the fifth tallest building in Shenzhen, and is also the world’s tallest steel pipe and concrete structure building.
