Land media “First Financial” reported that a web document showed that the Guangdong Provincial Emergency Management Department sent a report on the shaking of the Sage Building to the provincial party committee duty office, the provincial party committee information synthesis room and the provincial government general duty office at 21:40 on the 18th.
The report said, “by the provincial and municipal experts, the preliminary view is that: first, the Shenzhen Saige Building is up and down trembling rather than swinging from side to side; second, the cause of trembling is a variety of factors coupled, mainly the impact of wind, as well as the subway operation (two subways passed by downstairs) and the impact of temperature (the temperature rose in the last two days, the temperature difference of 8 degrees, the impact on the steel structure); third, by experts on-site The inspection and consultation and research, the main structure of the Sage Building is safe, the internal structure is solid, and various ancillary facilities are intact.”
The document has been confirmed by the staff of the Guangdong Provincial Emergency Management Department, who stressed that this is a preliminary investigation and the specific causes have to be further investigated by the expert group.
The report also mentioned that “given that the building was not installed with dampers, experts suggested that the next step could be to consider installing dampers to improve wind and earthquake resistance and comfort.”
