Taiwan announced 180 new native cases on the 15th, the first time since the outbreak topped 100, followed by reports of 207 and 335 cases on the 16th and 17th. Taipei and New Taipei City implemented the third level of epidemic alert from May 15 to May 28, closing down leisure and entertainment venues across Taiwan and banning incense-going groups and border activities.

Knowing that some supermarkets have been snapped up for living supplies, Du Wenze appealed on Facebook on the 16th that there is no need to blindly rush to buy supplies, “just buy what you need” and cheer up the Taiwanese: “One life on the same island, wear a good mask, pay attention to personal hygiene, keep your body strong, think positive and fight the enemy together! Taiwan cannot lose!”
He shared his experience of fighting the epidemic for several days, and on the 17th he posted a video of him lifting dumbbells at home on Facebook. In the video, he looks like he is lifting weights with ease. He proudly revealed his age when he called on “everyone to cheer up”: “Gym closing is not an excuse to play waste (lazy) …… I am 49 years old. How about you?”
