If the Chinese Communist Party had not pursued an all-round expansionist foreign policy, it would not have caused the Western world, especially the United States, to resent and counteract it. Had the CCP focused on domestic development and improving people’s living standards, it could have made its governance more humane, rational and modern, even if it did not change the old autocratic system, and tried to be on par with Singapore.
Misjudging the current situation and being besieged by the West in politics and economy
But the Communist Party’s communist beliefs dictate the nature of its struggle for world domination. Deng Xiaoping’s initial intention was only to recuperate and rise again, but Deng Xiaoping did not abandon communism. Jiang Zhu and Hu Wen were still on their way to economic ascendancy, and their strength was not sufficient until Xi Jinping came to power, when the Chinese Communist Party thought it was strong enough to compete with the United States, and only then was the trend of full-scale expansion emboldened.
Xi Jinping, the second generation of red, has a stronger revolutionary gene than Hu Wen, once the family base is thick, more open-minded, the United States does not take into account, the Western countries are more idle. To the advanced countries in the West, the CCP lures them with China’s huge market, and to the small and medium-sized countries in the Third World, the CCP bribes them with capital and technology, and for a while, all roads are open to the East and West, and it seems that all countries are coming to China. The Chinese Communist Party has taken advantage of this opportunity to “tell the Chinese story”, sell the Chinese model, buy off institutions and politicians, and build bridgeheads for world domination.
Successive U.S. administrations have long ignored the CCP’s presence, initially because the two countries were too far apart in terms of power, and later because Americans believed that the CCP’s economic opening would lead to political reform, and let the tiger return to the mountain for 30 or 40 years, allowing the CCP to grow and covet the world. The doors of the major international organizations were wide open, allowing the CCP to buy and divide and occupy them. When the Americans woke up, they realized that most of their country had fallen, and realized that the Chinese Communist Party had bad intentions.
The Chinese Communist Party’s confidence in its struggle for world domination is based on its own national strength, coupled with the fact that Western countries have been satisfied with the status quo for many years, their development has been slow, and internal conflicts have arisen, making the Chinese Communist Party think that “they can take over. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been able to steal the day in major international organizations and gain enough votes to compete with the U.S., thus boosting its self-confidence.
One of the misjudgments is the ideological aspect. Democracy is the trend of the times, and Marxism-Leninism is at the end of its rope after the “Soviet wave”. The rise of the CCP is not due to the authoritarian and dictatorial Chinese model, but to the capitalist market economy. Democracy is based on a solid foundation and the people’s will, while dictatorship is against human nature and is strong from the outside. Faced with the threat of a dictatorship, it was easy to reach a consensus between the Western dynasties and the West, which is why the Biden administration was able to establish a Western anti-communist front in a short time.
Harsh rule, culture at a dead end
The second misjudgment is about economic power. China’s GDP is the second highest in the world, but its GDP per capita is the lowest in the world. It can change from weak to strong and from strong to weak, depending on the relationship between the Communist Party and the rest of the world, and on the integration of technology and civilization with the world. In the past forty years, the Chinese Communist Party has been successful, not because of the superiority of the system, but in line with the world trend, today the Chinese and Western counter-counter, the West comprehensive siege, the external circulation is blocked, the internal circulation is not smooth, high-tech disconnected, the economic downturn has become irreversible.
The third misjudgment is the social and cultural aspects. In the face of external pressure, the Chinese Communist Party had to impose harsh rule on the inside in order to compete for world domination, and the cultural opening up that had been in line with the economic reform in the early years was no longer sustainable. The cultural lockdown has led to the loss of freedom, the stifling of creativity, and the exhaustion of civil vitality. The Red Culture is like a plague, the Cultural Revolution has resurfaced, nationalism has risen, and spiritual culture has reached a dead end.
If the Chinese Communist Party had the political wisdom to stop early, give up its ambition for hegemony, and repair relations with the West, there would not be no chance at all. Unfortunately, with 1.4 billion people in one place and the failure of the error correction mechanism under high political pressure, coupled with the indiscriminate attacks of the three-legged wolves, the CCP has become notorious in the West, and the anti-communist public opinion in the West has become lopsided, with fewer friends and more enemies.
Is the purpose of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation to dominate the world? Do the Chinese have such a big appetite and such a big ability to rule the world? Are the Chinese willing to follow the CCP and impose the illusion of communism on the people of other countries? How can we “bring peace to the world” if we only dream of “liberating all mankind” and do nothing for the benefit of the Chinese people?
The dream of hegemony has failed, and the rejuvenation of the nation is even more remote.
