Biden Administration Redefines “Gender” U.S. Experts: A Doctor’s Nightmare

U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra

On Monday, May 10, the Biden Administration announced that it will redefine the term “sex” in health care anti-discrimination law to include both “sexual orientation” and “gender identity. The Biden administration announced Monday that it will redefine the term “sex” (sex) in the health care anti-discrimination law to include both “sexual orientation” (sexual orientation) and “gender identity” (gender identity), and that the gender transition of minors will not be subject to “discrimination or interference. In this regard, some U.S. experts say that these policies will become a risk to U.S. doctors and will become a “nightmare” for doctors.

The Biden administration’s redefinition of “gender” effectively reverses the Trump administration’s policy of “leaving the definition of gender to biology. the simple definition of the word gender, male or female, is determined by biology.” The Trump administration also clarified that gender discrimination would not be included when it comes to health care and insurance.

But Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said in a statement Monday, “The Supreme Court has made it clear that people have the right to be free from gender discrimination and to be treated equally under the law, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. That’s why today the Department of Health and Human Services announced that it will take action on related reports of discrimination. People’s fear of discrimination, which can lead to forgoing applications for care, can have serious consequences. Our position is that everyone, including LGBT people, should have access to health care without discrimination or interference, always.”

“Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, told the media Monday that the announcement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) could almost be portrayed as ” It’s all about medical care for transgender people. He said the move is the federal government falling over itself to force society to subscribe to the leftist-defined concept of gender, or gender transition for minors, “and that’s the most controversial issue of all.”

Schilling told the media Monday, “Make no mistake, the policy announced today by the Department of Health and Human Services is not about ‘fixing’ broken bones or ‘screening’ for cancer risk. No one is going to deny treatment to LGBT people. Rather, the policy actually forces hospitals and medical professionals, to adhere to leftist ideas about gender, especially by offering gender reassignment surgery to all who come to the doctor, including children. The new policy of redefining gender puts doctors at risk.”

“Across the country, it doesn’t appear that gay people go to get their broken arms treated and encounter a doctor who says ‘Oh, I’m sorry, you’re gay. I’m not going to help you,'” Schilling said.

Schilling told the media about a hypothetical scenario in which parents take a child diagnosed with gender dysphoria to a doctor who performs mastectomies. The doctor finds out that the child does not have breast cancer and is a 15-year-old girl with gender dysphoria. If the doctor does not operate on her, the girl’s parents will sue the doctor on civil rights grounds. And for those doctors who don’t want to perform gender reassignment surgery on the child, “they are at risk. It’s basically forcing doctors to treat gender dysphoria, and it’s a total nightmare!”
