Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter, House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, will face a party vote on Wednesday (12) on the impeachment of former President Trump, which could pull her from office. House Republican leader McCarthy on Sunday (9) indicated his support for Rep. Elise Stefanik (D-NY) to replace Elisabeth.
McCarthy expressed his support for Stefanik, 36, to become the third in command of the Republican Party, replacing Elisabeth as the chairman of the House Republican Conference, saying that one of the most important jobs in this position is to move forward as a pioneer. He also criticized the Democratic Party is destroying America, this vote is to let the Republican Party unite and move forward.
Stefanik thanked McCarthy for her endorsement in a Twitter post, saying, “As one team, we will be on the same page with the American people and expel Pelosi (the Democratic Speaker of the House) in 2022.” Stefanik is a loyal Trump ally, and Trump has opened his support for her last Wednesday (5), saying it was a much better candidate than Elizabeth and that “we need leaders who believe in the ‘Make America Great Again’ movement.”
