The poem was not originally written by Wang Xing, but by Zhang Jie, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, entitled “Burning the Book Pit”. The poem specifically mentions that Xiang Yu and Liu Bang, who overthrew the Qin Dynasty, were both people who did not read books.
