The Gateway Pundit reported on May 8 that California’s population declined by 182,000 last year, the first time ever that the most populous state in the United States has seen a decline in population.
California was once the fastest-growing state in the United States, with its population increasing from 2 million in 1900 to 34 million in 2000. But in the new millennium, that growth has slowed. In recent years, more people have left California for other states than have moved to the state, and California’s population is now down to just under 39.5 million.
According to a survey by the Public Policy Institute of California, most people who have left California in the past decade cite jobs or housing as their primary reason. But Republicans believe that California’s high housing prices and homelessness brought on by far-left policies are the root causes of people fleeing the state.
California’s high housing prices are well known, and the homelessness brought about by far-left policies is so widespread that even the leftist media, the BBC, is reporting on it. Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, who recently announced her candidacy for governor, told reporters that her neighbors are fleeing California and moving to Arizona because they can’t stand the homelessness everywhere.
