The Texas House of Representatives fought a fierce battle for 17 hours and finally completed the second reading of SB7 at 3 p.m. on the 7th. Since the third reading can only make amendments to the text and cannot change the original intent of the legislation, the bill can be sent to Governor Abbott for signature after joint consultation between the House and Senate. The governor should sign and let the bill formally stand.
After the House passed the bill with 81 in favor and 64 against, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who has a strong position, then accepted the Fox News live connection and praised the move for representing Texas’ courage to fight against the opposition of liberal public opinion, and that SB7, after becoming a bill, will be more able to ensure fair and open elections in Texas, and more able to protect the voting rights of 29 million Texans.
In addition to Texas, similar bills are being negotiated or legislation has been completed in other parts of the United States. Republicans believe that this will ensure fair elections. Rep. Briscoe Cain stressed that he sees no problem with the 2020 election, but that SB7 can prevent future voting fraud.
