India suspended the import of Chinese-made wireless mobile devices

On May 7, cited a number of industry sources disclosed that India has been suspended for several months to approve the import of Chinese-made wireless mobile devices, any electronic equipment equipped with wifi modules, including Bluetooth speakers, wireless headphones, smart phones, smart watches and notebooks, etc., are currently delayed.

Sources said that India’s “Ministry of Wireless Mobile Planning and Coordination” at least since November last year, the suspension of the approval of the import of finished electronic equipment from China involving wifi module applications. Currently there are more than 80 applications from Chinese, U.S. and South Korean companies waiting for the department’s approval, resulting in Dell, HP, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Lenovo and other major manufacturers delaying the launch of their products in India.

The report said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking a tough stance on Chinese imports amid calls for greater self-reliance in India’s economy. The Indian government’s idea is to prompt companies to manufacture these products in India, the sources said.
