Talking about 2024 campaign again Trump: my supporters will be happy

Former U.S. President Donald Trump was interviewed by Candace Owens of the Daily Telegraph on Tuesday, May 4. When asked again about his plans for 2024, Trump said, “The answer is I’m absolutely enthusiastic about it. I look forward to making an announcement at the right time. It’s very early for an announcement. But when I make the announcement, people are going to be very, very happy.”

Trump told the hosts, “It’s really not too early to do that for campaign finance reasons. Otherwise, I think I would give you an answer that you would be very happy with. We’re taking this very seriously,” Trump continued, “and I just want to say: stay tuned.”

U.S. campaign finance laws strictly regulate how official candidates handle money and require quarterly disclosure of all funds raised. So while Trump has often discussed in the media whether he will run for president three times, he has said all along that he intends to delay announcing his decision until after the 2022 midterm elections.

Republicans believe they can flip the House and Senate next year and then take back the White House, although Democrats are confident in their ability to maintain control of all three bodies.

Media analysis shows that Trump’s entry would make a huge difference in the Republican field in 2024. Because of his popularity among Republican voters, he would immediately become the favorite to win the party’s nomination. But if he decides not to run, he would position himself as a “kingmaker,” and his support could easily lead to a new candidate winning. These potential candidates include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley and others.

Host Owens, who is also a strong supporter of Trump, jokingly suggested to Trump on the show. She asked Trump if she would be a possible vice presidential candidate if he were to run for a third term.

And Trump responded, “That’s very interesting! Wow, what a great choice. That would be very good. You’re going to be great. And you know, I really appreciate the work that you’ve done. And everybody does.”

Trump has launched a communications platform of his own on Tuesday (May 4) after being banned from using Facebook and Twitter. The platform is a page on his website. Trump will post pictures, videos and comments on the platform, called “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” as a way for him to communicate messages and information to his supporters.

Separately, Politico and The Hill reported on May 4 that the Democratic National Committee has begun investigating more than 20 possible Republican presidential candidates, from Florida Governor DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley to Fox News host Tucker Carlson) and My Pillow founder Mike Lindell.

Media analysis shows that the Democratic investigation of Carlson, a conservative journalist, is unprecedented in the political process, but it shows that Democrats already see him as a threat.

The report also said Biden’s 2020 campaign manager, Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, is leading the effort and has hired about 25 people. And she plans to hire 25 more staffers to advance their research on the opposition.

The paper said their efforts could be in vain if Trump decides to challenge Biden.

Biden, 78, also expressed his intentions at a March press conference, “My plan is to run for re-election. That’s my expectation.” He also added that he “expects” to run again with Vice President Harris.

In 2024, Biden will be 82 years old.
