Former U.S. President Donald Trump was blocked from social media before he left office, but now he has not only set up his official website, but also launched a new social media communication platform, which was officially launched on May 4, where his supporters can communicate with him directly.

Trump launched a social media space-style communication platform on May 4, called “FromtheDeskofDonaldJ.Trump” at www.DonaldJTrump.com/desk.

This new communication platform, built on top of Trump’s personal website donaldjtrump.com, allows Trump to post posts and videos directly on the platform.

At the top left hand side of the new communications platform is a picture of Trump writing with the words below, “We believe in making America great again. Join us!”

Below that is the “CONTRIBUTE” button, and to the left is a bust of Trump’s finger to the right. The direction of Trump’s finger says you can become a founding member of the new Trump platform in 2021. “The movement to make America great again has only just begun.” President Trump is calling on you to step up and become a founding member of his Save America team.

On May 4, Trump released his first promotional video on the new platform, which announced that his social media is “a space for safe and free discussion” and included the tagline “Straight from Trump’s desk.

Below the video are multiple Trump posts that can be shared on Twitter and Facebook, and a button to potentially “Like” the video. But the “like” button doesn’t seem to be enabled at the moment.

Although the new platform was only officially launched on April 4, Trump has been posting on the platform since April 27. The new platform is currently limited to one-way communication, and does not allow visitors to “reply” or “leave a comment” interactive features.

The new platform came out earlier than the Trump team had expected. Corey Lewandowski, a former Trump adviser, predicted in late March that Trump’s new social media platform would be available within three to four months. Now the platform has been in use for just over a month.

According to Fox News, the technology for Trump’s new platform is provided by Campaign Nucleus, an organization founded by Brad Parscale, Trump’s former campaign manager, with the mission of “building a digital ecosystem for the effective management of political campaigns and organizations.

The new platform currently only allows Trump to post and allows followers to share the former president’s posts on other social media platforms. The new platform does not yet allow users the ability to reply to or interact with Trump’s posts, but allows them to get timely updates on his posts. More features and updates are expected to be added to the platform in the future.

Prior to that, at the end of March, Trump also set up an official personal website www.45office.com to keep in touch with his supporters.

Trump has left office on January 20, 2021. After the congressional riots on January 6, Twitter, Facebook and many other big technology companies blocked the speech, resulting in Trump not having a platform to release public information since he left the White House.

After this, Trump has issued frequent statements through platforms such as the “Save America Political Action Committee”, but has not joined new social media platforms.

On January 25, Trump established the official 45th “Office of the Former President” in Florida to handle his correspondence and travel, and to continue to promote his political philosophy during his presidency, and to emphasize that he will always fight for the people.

Now in the new social media officially opened, Trump will use this platform as his speaking channel, to replace other social media platforms.
