Iran’s Foreign Minister Chariff complained in a leaked recording last week about the power of the late Revolutionary Guards commander Sulaimani during his lifetime, saying he repeatedly “sacrificed” diplomacy for what he called the “military community.” On May 2, after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei publicly rebuked the incident, Chariff tweeted that he was bothering the Iraqi government. The tweet from Chariff said he was sorry to have disturbed Khamenei’s inner peace.
The leaked recording was made by Iran International, a London-based Persian-language satellite news channel, which broadcast more than three hours of the seven-hour interview on April 25.
According to the broadcast, Mohammad Javad Zarif said he has repeatedly “sacrificed” diplomacy for what he called the “military community. He was referring to the military operations and political activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), particularly the Quds Force, which was led by the late Qasem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC’s elite Quds Force, during his lifetime.
Chariff also said that after Iran signed a nuclear deal with the powers in 2015, Soleimani went to Russia to try to sabotage the agreement. He also complained that there were many things he was kept in the dark about, including Iran’s military operations in Syria and Iraq.
Suleimani was killed by a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad airport in the Iraqi capital last January.
Al Jazeera reported that Khamenei (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) was “surprised and regretted” in a televised speech on the 2nd, but did not directly name Chariff.
Khamenei did not think it was appropriate to make statements that would convey connotations that would echo the U.S. narrative, whether against the Quds Force or against Suleimani.
The report said that Khamenei’s statement will fuel the already inflamed Tehran political hardliners to further attack Chaarev and President Rouhani’s (Hassan Rouhani) government, and will also call for Chaarev’s resignation, leaving his political future under a cloud.
It is reported that the career diplomat’s popularity is relatively high in the middle of the position but weak reformists, he has repeatedly expressed no ambition to run for the presidential election in June. He has previously said that he may want to continue to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or to step down from his official position to teach at the university.
The company’s newest product is a new product that will be available in the marketplace.
The company also tweeted that its “open and honest experience” was leaked, and even Khamenei’s quiet heart was disturbed, for which he is sorry.”
Rouhani said that the leaked recordings are an attempt to divide Iran’s enemies and ordered the intelligence services to investigate who leaked the content of the recordings, and the judiciary and parliament are also investigating this.
Rouhani also removed Hesamodin Ashna, director of the Center for Strategic Studies in the president’s office, who arranged the interview with Chariff.
