Bob, a resident of Seal Beach, California, held a “Stop Socialism in America” rally on May 1, and wrote on several pieces of cardboard: “Are you an American or a socialist? Are you an American, or are you a socialist?” He also glued strips of wood for people to hold. From time to time, passing cars or motorcycles honked their support.

Steve, who fought in the Vietnam War, said, “Although many Americans don’t realize it, socialism has come to America. Children are influenced by Marxists in school, and they continue to receive Marxist messages as they grow up, so society is leaning to the left, and we need to keep educating people about the dangers of socialism.”

We can’t let America become socialist, we have to stop it,” said Ms. Tran, who is of Vietnamese descent. Why do so many people come to live in the United States? Why are people fleeing from socialist countries? It’s simple, people don’t like socialism, people are threatened and controlled there, they can’t survive there.”
While the older generation fleeing from Vietnam is well aware of the hardships of communism, many of the younger generation feel indifferent or unaware of what socialism is. Ms. Nguyen, an older Vietnamese-American, said, “We know too well about socialism, where people’s freedom, property and lives are taken away. But children growing up in America, where schools don’t teach children to respect their parents and are brainwashed by American schools and leftist media, don’t see things the same way we do.”

Linda, a resident, said of California’s Ethnic Studies Curriculum, “I think it’s ridiculous that they are once again segregating people by race, by color, which is something we haven’t done in many years.” Then there’s the Social Justice Standards curriculum, which also stems from critical race theory, and Linda says, “These words-social justice and equity, etc.-sound okay, but they’re not really that, they’re all about elevating one group while diminishing support for another, and they’re tinged with derogatory meanings.”
On site, resident Robin set up a game with 10 questions about Biden’s policies since taking office, such as: open borders, wanting to eliminate the right to bear arms, the Green New Deal, making the U.S. dependent on outside energy sources, cutting police funding, etc. People passing by were asked to choose the one they were most dissatisfied with and throw stained glass pieces into the numbered bowl, while registering their names to win. What people were most dissatisfied with was that “(Biden) is becoming a puppet of the Chinese (Communist Party of China).
