“Democracy” has disappeared again? The city of Kunming preaches “freedom and democracy”, netizens tease

A group of netizens recently exposed a set of notice boards set up by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Kunming Municipal Committee in Yunnan Province, in a series of slogans such as “wealth and strength” and “freedom”, actually interspersed with the word “clear master”. The “democracy” has disappeared at the same time, netizens tease, the Chinese Communist Party propaganda system is not loaded?

The notice board was set up by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Kunming Municipal Committee and the Kunming Civilization Office to encourage the public to cheer up and strive to enter the ranks of national civilized cities.

The “National Civilized City” is an activity initiated by the Central Civilization Commission of the Communist Party of China, which is selected and honored every three years, and the declared city can submit an application after self-evaluation against the national civilized city measurement standards. Kunming applied for the first time in recent years, but did not meet the criteria.

On the billboard, which was set up for future candidacy, Kunming’s propaganda department wrote “wealth and strength,” “freedom,” “patriotism,” “friendship,” and “honesty. Friendship”, “Integrity” and 12 other slogans, but there is a puzzling “Ming Lord” mixed in, which is suspected to be the original “Democracy It is suspected that the original “democracy” was misplanted.

However, after Radio Free Asia tweeted the photo, netizens left comments saying that the slogan is now more in line with the current situation in China: “It’s just telling the truth. It’s about seeking a clear master, not about democracy.” “This is a reflection of true thinking.”

Others flirted with the idea that the authorities in Kunming may not have done it on purpose: “Xi is the clear master.

“Xi is the bright lord, nothing wrong with that.”

“This is to prepare for the baozi to be called the emperor, right? Chinese people have revered the bright lord since ancient times, not democracy.”

“Two possibilities: 1. deliberately write the wrong ode to the Lord Hongen (“Ming Lord” Qingfeng) 2. deliberately write the wrong ode to the dark irony. In short, not like unintentional miswriting.”

“I’m afraid it means they need a wise monarch. The imperial system never left.”

There are also other assorted sarcastic phrases: “You should know that in the Chinese public opinion environment, this word cannot appear alone, so here is a ‘pass word'” “The one who does this is also the eunuch of the dynasty, so it is considered 敬業” “Same as [通商寬衣], it’s a big truth.”
