A horrific tragedy occurred in Nanning, Guangxi. A worker installing an air conditioner in a high-rise residence accidentally dropped an impact drill and hit a baby directly on the head, eventually dying of his injuries.
Community workers revealed that the baby, who had just celebrated his first birthday a few days earlier, was still being held in his mother’s arms at the time of the incident.
The incident occurred in the afternoon of April 30, Nanning City, Xingning District, Sunshine Green City district. District residents Wang Tao (a pseudonym) revealed that on that day, a resident of the third phase of the district, building 2, holding a baby walking on the slope in front of the residential building, a sudden fall from the height of an impact drill hit the baby’s head. When he returned to the district at 5 p.m., the baby had been rushed to the hospital for treatment, but there were still blood stains and a percussion drill on the ground.
Wang Tao said that the third phase of building 2 is still the owners are still moving in, some units are being renovated, according to other residents, the impact drill is a worker in the 26th floor of a unit to install air conditioners when dropped. He also said that the district are posted around the “no throwing objects from a height” notice, but from time to time there will be people throwing objects from a height, this time more lead to tragedy, residents are anxious to community property measures, such as strengthening publicity, additional protective facilities.
The district belongs to the five Village Ridge Community Council staff said that the incident is suspected to be due to installation worker error, resulting in the impact drill directly from the floating window down; when a woman was holding a baby downstairs at the slope, the slope above no cover, resulting in the impact drill hit the baby’s head, due to serious head injuries, rescue failed, the baby has passed away that night unfortunately.
The district property service center manager Mr. Huang said, the incident of Building 2 just handed over, the 26th floor of the owners of the installation of air conditioning machine before and did not report to the property and do any protective measures. At present, the installation workers have been taken away by the district police station.
Continental lawyer Zhang Yegang believes that the owner of the property does not need to bear any responsibility in the incident, the company where the installation worker is employed should bear the main responsibility, and the worker’s equipment fell and killed the person, the worker did not regulate the management of tools.
