India’s 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak is so severe that the British government said today that it will send an additional 1,000 oxygen-supplied respirators to India. A group of physicians have also volunteered to provide telemedicine services from the UK.
The UK has already sent 495 oxygen concentrators and 200 artificial respirators, while three larger oxygen units are being shipped to India.
British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab told BBC television, “We will be sending another 1,000 sets of respirators in a very short period of time.”
Raab will meet with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar tomorrow on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) meeting in London.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is also expected to hold an online meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
