More than 2 injured in shooting at Washington State mall, suspect at large

At least two people were injured in a shooting at a shopping mall in Washington state, U.S., on Saturday (May 1), according to police sources. The gunman is at large. Local police are investigating the incident.

The mall, called Westfield Southcenter Mall, is located in Tukwila, a city near Seattle. It is unclear whether the shooting occurred inside or outside the building.

According to social media messages, shoppers fled the area around noon after hearing gunshots or ran to hide in the stores inside the mall.

The two injured, a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, have been taken to Harbourview Medical Center for medical attention, both with non-life-threatening injuries.

A shopper named Wesley Eubanks (Wesley Eubanks) told The Associated Press that he was shopping with his wife inside the cosmetics store Lush (Lush) when they heard six shots. The couple, along with a number of other shoppers, ducked to the back of the store.

The Seattle Times reported that people in the shopping mall were hiding in the store. Tukwila police tweeted at 12:25 p.m., urging people to avoid the area where the crime occurred. The tweet also revealed that officers were clearing the area and that if people were placed in the store in an appropriate place, they should stay where they were until officers contacted them.

The Washington State Patrol has closed all exits on Interstate 5 and Interstate 405 while authorities investigate.
