The number of confirmed cases worldwide surpassed 150 million, with India reaching a new record.

India’s new single-day confirmed cases set a new world record on April 30, pushing the global epidemic past 150 million cases; the first shipment of U.S. emergency supplies has arrived as part of international assistance to India to control the epidemic.

AFP reports that Indian officials have reported 385,000 new confirmed cases and nearly 3,500 deaths in the past 24 hours. Nevertheless, many experts believe the actual number could be higher.

A U.S. Super Galaxy military transport plane arrived in New Delhi carrying more than 400 oxygen cylinders and other hospital equipment, as well as nearly 1 million rapid coronavirus test kits.

Some 40 countries have now pledged to send medical supplies to India.
