The first shipment of British medical aid arrived at the airport in the Indian capital, New Delhi, this morning, April 27, and among the supplies were oxygen production equipment and ventilators.
According to the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first batch of British medical aid arrived, including 100 respirators and 95 oxygen concentrators.
Indian foreign ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi tweeted photos showing the supplies being unloaded from a Lufthansa flight to Delhi, which he hailed as “an example of international cooperation.
The U.K., along with several other countries, has announced emergency aid to India and is deploying more than 600 sets of vital medical equipment as the country’s health system is overwhelmed by a sudden outbreak of the coronavirus Covid-19.
A total of nine air containers full of supplies, including 495 oxygen concentrators, 120 non-invasive ventilators and 20 manual ventilators, will be sent this week, according to the British High Commission in New Delhi.
