On the 100th day in office of new President Joe Biden, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) denounced Biden’s policies since entering the White House as contradictory to his campaign promises.
McCarthy made the remarks during a weekend interview with Fox host Chris Wallace. He said Biden promised to govern as a “moderate” during the campaign, but has acted like a “socialist” since taking office. “He has pursued policies that are not consistent with the promises he made during the campaign.”
He likened Biden’s first 100 days in office to the implementation of the “bait and switch” method. The term “bait and switch” refers to a prohibited sales method. A seller uses advertising to induce customers to buy a certain item, but then tries to get them to switch to another, more profitable item.
He also said that despite Biden’s promise of bipartisanship, Biden has never met or talked to him since taking office.
When asked by Wallace about Biden’s campaign promises to work with Republicans to advance the major infrastructure and COVID-19 (Communist Party of China virus) relief bills, McCarthy said both bills have done little to actually achieve their stated purpose and instead have only paid for the Democrats’ own priorities.
Of Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan, McCarthy said, “I don’t think it’s going to be popular once people learn what it’s about.” “Less than 6 percent of the money in the infrastructure bill is planned for infrastructure.”
On the same Fox program that day, South Carolina Republican U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham also denounced Biden’s foreign policy as a “disaster” and said Biden’s economic policy was “disheartening.
He said that in his first few months in the Oval Office, Biden had taken “destabilizing” actions. “I think he (Biden) is a very unstable president …… Economically, he has played a negative role in the economic recovery, he wants to raise taxes a lot, increase regulations, and that’s going to put businesses out of business.”
At least 43 percent of Americans say they disapprove of the job Biden is doing, according to a recent Fox News poll. Graham said he is among them.
“He’s been a disaster on foreign policy,” Graham added, “and the borders are in chaos. The Iranians are sitting on their hands. Instead he (Biden) is opening negotiations with the Iranian regime, but they (Iran) are not making any changes (to previous practices). Afghanistan will fall apart. Russia and the Chinese Communist Party …… are already pushing him.”
Graham also criticized Biden’s handling of the steady influx of illegal Central American immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. Republicans have blamed it on Biden’s reversal of Trump’s immigration policies; Democrats, meanwhile, have denounced the previous administration’s border policies as inhumane.
Biden is scheduled to deliver a speech to a joint session of Congress later this week to mark his 100th day in office.
