Nearly 10,000 people marched in central London on Saturday (April 24) to oppose restrictions during the epidemic.
The Unite for Freedom march did not comply with government regulations restricting mass gatherings during the epidemic. Demonstrators argued that the restrictions were unnecessary and violated their human rights. Demonstrators opposed vaccinations, the wearing of masks and so-called health passports.
During the march, demonstrators chanted slogans such as “Freedom,” “Take off your mask,” and held signs opposing the vaccine passport. Most people were not wearing masks.
Media reported that about 10,000 people participated in the day’s march, but the London Metropolitan Police did not confirm the number. A police spokesman said he had not heard of any arrests.
Britain has eased epidemic closure restrictions in recent weeks and reopened non-critical stores and outdoor recreational facilities on April 12, but indoor gatherings remain banned, with plans to lift the ban as early as May 17.
