Former Peruvian President Biscara was vaccinated with Chinese vaccine, but still diagnosed with the disease

Former Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra, who was reported to have received the 2019 coronavirus (CCP) vaccine developed by Sinopharm in October last year, said today that he and his wife were both confirmed to have contracted the disease.

Biscara, who was president of Peru from 2018 to 2020, tweeted (Twitter), “Despite taking the necessary measures to avoid bringing the virus home, both my wife and I tested positive for coronavirus disease and have symptoms.”

Biscara, 58, also mentioned, “My family is taking the necessary measures to isolate and not let down their guard.”

Biscara was previously reported to have administered the national vaccine in advance, but he claimed that he did not interfere with the vaccination and received the administration as part of a trial, but this claim was not accepted by the media.

Peru is currently facing the second wave of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, which is the result of a more infectious Brazilian variant of the strain.

Peru, with a population of approximately 33 million, currently has a cumulative total of more than 1.7 million confirmed cases, of which 59,440 people have died of the disease.
