Tesla responded to the “Shanghai Auto Show rights incident”: owners do not accept third-party testing, insisted on the return of the car

On the afternoon of April 19, in response to the “Shanghai Auto Show Rights Incident”, Tesla responded that the owner’s behavior that occurred at the auto show site on April 19, 2021, was the owner of the previous speeding violation that occurred in February in Anyang, Henan Province.

Tesla said it understands that on the morning of April 19, the owner entered the exhibition hall by obtaining documents in an unconventional manner, live-streamed around the booth, revealed a customized rights defense T-shirt, and climbed on top of the car to shout. After noticing the behavior, the site staff repeatedly persuaded the owner, but he did not stop the behavior. After consultation with the show organizer, the site staff coordinated with security and public security law enforcement officials to persuade the owner to leave, considering that the behavior seriously affected the normal order of the show.

Tesla said that it is understood that the owner had previously been involved in a collision due to speeding violations, and then insisted on the return of the car on the grounds of product quality. In the past two months has always maintained active negotiations with the owner, expressed willingness to assist in the completion of testing, repair or insurance claims, while proposing a variety of solutions, but because the owner does not accept any form of third-party testing, and strongly reject all the proposals we put forward, so related matters can only continue to communicate. Next, Tesla will continue to communicate closely with the owners to help them resume their normal car life as soon as possible.
