China’s exports to North Korea soar 400-fold in March

In comprehensive news, China’s exports to North Korea soared in March, nearly 400 times the total exports to the country in January and February.

Chinese customs data released on Sunday showed that China’s exports to North Korea totaled $12.978 million in March, Reuters reported. This is also a new high since exports of $18.88 million in September last year.

Reuters noted that this indicates an easing of border restrictions caused by the New Crown (Chinese Communist virus) outbreak.

For now, North Korea remains under economic sanctions from the international community. Starting in late 2017, such sanctions were further escalated, including a ban on oil exports to North Korea and a ban on imports of food, machinery and electrical equipment.

However, North Korea has been ignoring the ban and importing oil from the international community. The New York Times reported in March this year that large amounts of illegal oil were smuggled into North Korea with the help of China.
