The employment gold card is valid for a maximum of 3 years, and can also enjoy income tax exemptions and health insurance.
According to media reports, Taiwan’s National Development Council (NDC) said that Hong Kong actor Huang Qiusheng was granted an employment gold card in the field of culture and art by the NDC in July last year, based on his qualifications of having won major international awards in the fields of film, radio and television, and pop music.
According to the regulations, the Employment Gold Card is valid for one to three years and does not require a certain employer to work in Taiwan during the validity period, which significantly increases the freedom of work and allows for income tax exemptions and health insurance; in addition, immediate family visitation visas are valid for up to one year, and spouses and minor children can also stay in Taiwan as relatives.
The National Development Council (NDC) said that since the promotion of the Employment Gold Card in February 2018, 2,447 cards have been issued by the end of March 2021, especially since the outbreak of the epidemic, the number of applications has surged, and many international talents, including those from Hong Kong and Macao, have applied for the card in Taiwan.
According to the National Development Council, the employment gold card has the largest number of 1,673 people in the economic field, accounting for 68.4% of the total number of applications issued; followed by 269 people in the field of science and technology (11.0%), 182 people in the field of culture and art (7.4%), 165 people in the field of finance (6.7%), and 149 people in the field of education (6.1%), in that order.
