Keiji Furuya, chairman of the Japan-China Parliamentarians’ Council, a cross-party group of Japanese Diet members, said on Twitter today (17) that the Japanese flag can finally be hoisted at the entrance to the residence of the Japanese representative in Taiwan today. Now Japan’s diplomacy is no longer a matter of compromise.
Keiji Furuya, the president of the Japan-China Parliamentarians’ Association, which consists of nearly 300 members of the Japanese Diet who are friendly to Taiwan, shared a tweet on his Twitter account today, writing, “The Japanese flag is being raised at the entrance and exit of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association (equivalent to an embassy) in Taipei, which was originally a matter of course. a matter of course, but in the past it was not flown because of constant concerns about the Chinese Communist Party (state).”

Furuya also wrote: “I wonder if the people who visited the Japan Taiwan Exchange Association have noticed this change in us. The democratic countries should cooperate to confront the Chinese Communist Party, which is getting out of line.” Furuya also shared a photo of the Japanese flag being raised at the entrance of the Japan Taiwan Exchange Association.
Japan broke off diplomatic relations with the Republic of China on Taiwan in 1972 and established diplomatic relations with the Communist Party of China (CPC), and on December 1, 1972, the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association (JTA) was established as a public interest foundation to handle affairs between Japan and the Republic of China. In close cooperation with the Japanese government, the Association handles all practical relations with Taiwan.
