Former U.S. President Donald Trump (Trump) issued a statement on Thursday, April 15, fully endorsing Wyoming Republican Party Chairman Frank Eathorne for re-election in the 2022 midterm elections. And Trump echoed Eathorne’s criticism of the state’s Republican U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R).

In a statement, Trump wrote: “Frank Eathorne will continue to fight for America First policies as the Republican Party chairman in the great state of Wyoming. He is well respected by the people. He fought for your (Constitution’s) Second Amendment and continued to grow and develop the Republican Party. Perhaps most importantly, Frank denounced the incompetent Liz Cheney. She doesn’t care about our brave servicemen and women fighting overseas, she wants to keep fighting this ridiculous, endless war instead of facing, in this great age, the enemies our country will face. I fully support Frank’s re-election. He will never let you down.”

Isoen was elected chairman of the Wyoming Republican Party in 2019 and is currently seeking re-election. He led the charge to denounce Cheney’s stance on impeaching Trump (who Democrats have accused of sedition) and issued a statement condemning Cheney’s decision.

“Democrats are using this (impeachment) to smear the entire conservative movement and all Republicans. By voting to impeach, Liz Cheney is helping them in that effort,” Isoen said.

Cheney did not immediately comment on Trump’s statement. She has had heated arguments with Trump over the war in Afghanistan. The differences between the two have become more pronounced since the Jan. 6 congressional riots, so much so that she voted for Trump’s impeachment. Trump was eventually acquitted.

Despite the condemnation Cheney received from within the Republican Party, she did not give up her attacks on Trump.

On Wednesday, April 14, Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto asked Cheney whether you would support Trump if he ran again in 2024. Cheney replied, “I would not.” “He (Trump) has not done a good job as a leader to lead our party forward.”

After her comments, Trump issued a statement in response, “There are a lot of (Republican) candidates who want to run for that crazy Liz Cheney’s seat, but we only need one.” He called on the Republican Party to purge Republicans like Cheney.

“She’s too far behind in the polls in Wyoming. The only way she can win is if a lot of candidates run against her at the same time, spreading the vote around. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.” Trump added.

Trump said Cheney is his top target to defeat in the upcoming Wyoming midterm elections. He will soon announce his support for a candidate against Cheney.
