Ivanka Trump on Oct. 27, 2020, in Florida.
Ivanka Trump, 39, the eldest daughter of former U.S. President Donald Trump, shared a photo on social media on Wednesday (April 14) indicating that she got her first dose of the Chinese Communist Virus (COVID-19) vaccine.
It was Ivanka’s first interaction with the public after breaking a nearly three-month silence. She hasn’t shared anything since she and her family moved to Florida after her father left office in January.
Ivanka said, “Today, I got (the vaccine)!!! I hope you do too!” Ivanka also wrote alongside a photo of her shot, “Thank you Nurse Torres!!!”
Ivanka told the Associated Press that in order to defeat the CCP virus, as well as protect ourselves and others – vaccination is the best way to go.
She wrote, “Vaccination is the best way for us to defeat this virus and protect ourselves and others.”
Two people familiar with Ivanka’s plans told The Associated Press that she was eligible for the vaccine along with other White House staffers when she was a senior adviser, but she chose to wait.
Ivanka reportedly received the vaccine from Pfizer in Florida. In Florida, individuals 16 years and older are eligible for the vaccine.
The photo shared by Ivanka also drew comments from many of her followers. Most said that vaccination against the CCP virus is unnecessary.
One comment read, “Because they have a 99.8% survival rate for a virus they have never identified? Dr. Anthony Fauci (D-N.Y.) and Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) are among those who said the vaccine is not necessary. Cuomo (governor of New York State) would be proud.”
Another follower wrote, “Are you kidding me?” — and others wrote, “Why?” “I don’t fight,” or “No thanks.”
A source confirmed in March that Trump and Melania were vaccinated against the Chinese Communist virus while still in the White House in January. But it’s not clear whether the Trumps got the vaccine from Modena or Pfizer. Those were the only two licensed vaccines available in the U.S. at the time.
In a statement in mid-March, Trump said he recommended that Americans get vaccinated against the Chinese Communist virus, but also noted that everyone in the United States is free to make their own choices and “we have to live by that, and I agree with that.”
Trump said, “It’s a great vaccine. It’s a safe vaccine, and it’s something that works. And we’ve been working around the clock. And what I’m asking the FDA to do — if I don’t get involved, if we really don’t get involved, it’s going to be many, many years before this happens … …I wouldn’t say the FDA likes me, but I’ve pushed them very, very hard, harder than everybody else has pushed them. And some people at the FDA have acknowledged that, but in the end, they’re all very happy.”
According to media reports, a recent poll showed that 47 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Trump supporters said they did not want to be vaccinated against the Chinese Communist virus.
Dr. Fauci, an American virologist, recently said in a television interview, “He (Trump) is such a powerful and popular person that I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t get vaccinated if he came out (to call for it). That would be something that would be very helpful to the effort. I’m very surprised at how many Republicans say they won’t vaccinate. I don’t understand where that’s coming from. But this (to vaccinate or not to vaccinate) is not a political issue, it’s a public health issue.”
