Breaking and Entering: Illegal Immigrants Become Democrats’ “American Heroes” Amnesty to be Included in Infrastructure Bill

With nearly 17 million Americans still without jobs, a group of House and Senate Democrats sent a letter to Joe Biden to include amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants in an infrastructure package, Breitbart News reported Wednesday.

The group of 22 Democrats, including Representatives Joaquin Castro (D-Calif.) and (D-TX) and Ted Lieu (R-Texas), and Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), asked the White House in the letter that in any economic relief and infrastructure package To add amnesty for at least 5.2 million illegal immigrants.

The Democrats wrote that illegal aliens working in the United States are “a truly vital part of our nation’s critical infrastructure and a key part of the backbone of our society,” and therefore “have earned more than just” eventual amnesty for U.S. citizenship.

Democrats wrote that “essential workers are America’s heroes, and they have earned the right to become American citizens. And they said, “If Republicans continue to refuse to move forward with immigration legislation that has the support of the vast majority of the American people, then the next settlement on jobs and infrastructure should include citizenship for essential workers.”

The letter continued, “Speaker Pelosi has expressed support for including immigration legislation in the legislative package advancing through budget reconciliation, and the 100 members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Democratic Caucus have urged the inclusion of a pathway to citizenship for essential workers in coronavirus relief legislation.”

Democrats emphasized that “the upcoming legislative package on jobs and infrastructure is the best opportunity to recognize and reward the sacrifice and labor of essential workers.”

The amnesty plan proposed by Rep. Castro this time would allow illegal immigrants in the U.S. in at least 20 different occupations to be able to adjust status, get a green card to stay in the U.S., and after living in the U.S. for five years with the green card, they could apply for U.S. citizenship.

The background to this issue is that Biden’s own proposed amnesty plan to permanently resettle the nation’s 37.3+ million foreign nationals and bring the U.S. foreign population closer to the size of California’s by 2031 was not supported in Congress. But the main winners of the amnesty for illegal immigrants, big corporations and investors, can’t wait, and their surrogates keep lobbying lawmakers in Washington to pressure for an amnesty this year. Last week, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Vice President Neil Bradley said amnesty for illegal immigrants is “critical.

The Democrats then made up their minds to include amnesty for illegal immigrants in the Biden-based bill that could use the budget reconciliation process. The bill under the budget reconciliation process requires only a simple majority of the Senate to pass, bypassing Republican obstruction. Democrats have used this route to pass a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill this year.

Breitbart News says there is already ample evidence that the flooding of the U.S. labor market has had a wage crushing side effect. Economist George Borjas calls mass immigration the “biggest anti-poverty program” at the expense of American workers and the lower and middle classes. The biggest winners are companies and investors because labor is cheap and there will be a steady stream of consumers buying their products and services.

Other studies have found that legal immigration to the U.S., currently, has cost Americans more than $530 billion worth of lost wages.
