On the 14th, Biden sent two missions at the same time, but the destination is the incompatible Taiwan and China, Biden left and right to fight each other, which play is sung?
Todd and his party visit Taiwan, the Chinese Communist Party’s warning does not work
At 3:00 p.m. local time on the 14th, at the request of Biden, his old friend, former Democratic Senator Chris Todd, former U.S. Secretary of State Amitage, Steinberg and others arrived at Taipei Songshan Airport and began their “unofficial” visit to Taiwan.
On the morning of the 15th, Tsai Ing-wen will receive Todd and his delegation at the presidential palace and will host a dinner at her residence.
A senior Biden administration official said on condition of anonymity that the “unofficial” delegation follows “a longstanding bipartisan tradition of high-level unofficial delegations from the U.S. executive branch to Taiwan” as the U.S. and Taiwan celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act. .
The official said the three men “are all longtime friends of Taiwan” and “veteran state activists. Their visit to Taiwan “sends a significant signal of U.S. commitment to Taiwan and its democracy.
On behalf of the government and people, President Tsai Ing-wen welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the U.S. support, said Taiwan Presidential Office spokesman Tun-Han Chang. In particular, he noted that Todd was an important driving force behind the legislative process of the Taiwan Relations Act, and that Amitage and Steinberg, who served as deputy secretaries of state under Bush Jr. and Obama, respectively, have visited Taiwan several times and are senior U.S. dignitaries familiar with Taiwan and friendly to Taiwan.
On Todd’s “unofficial” visit to Taiwan, Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Chinese Communist Party’s Taiwan Affairs Office, said that “the so-called official and unofficial are just a pretext for them to ‘deceive’ people. He said “China opposes any form of official contacts between Taiwan and the United States,” adding that the U.S. has a commitment to China on the Taiwan issue and hopes to fulfill it seriously and “not to send a wrong signal to the Taiwan independence forces.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that he had made “solemn representations” to the United States. The U.S. side was urged to “immediately stop any form of official contacts between the U.S. and Taiwan and handle the Taiwan issue with prudence.
As we all know, the Taiwan issue is the most sensitive area between the U.S. and China, and is considered a “red line” by the Chinese Communist Party. At a recent high-level meeting between the U.S. and China, Yang Jiechi, director of the CCP Foreign Affairs Office, warned the U.S. that it “cannot back down” on the Taiwan issue. Yesterday (13), the Chinese Communist Party also warned the U.S. to “not play with fire.
But the U.S. did not heed the CPC’s warning, and after announcing the latest guidelines for encouraging U.S. and Taiwan officials to interact on the 9th, it sent an outgoing U.S. official to visit Taiwan on the 14th. This is a real challenge to the “bottom line” of the Chinese Communist Party.
Todd is Biden’s special envoy?
The U.S. side emphasized the “unofficial” nature of Todd’s visit to Taiwan. The members of the delegation are not current U.S. government officials, nor are they current members of the U.S. Congress. To be precise, these people are ordinary U.S. citizens. So there is nothing wrong with saying that they are “unofficial” private visits.
But there are some things that do not need to be fully explained, they are understandable people, no need to play dumb. From different aspects, Todd’s visit to Taiwan has a strong “official color”. We can even further speculate that Todd may be acting as Biden’s special envoy to Taiwan.
First of all, Todd’s visit to Taiwan was at the request of Biden. For that matter, although the U.S. side does not admit it, it has in fact taken on a strong official tone. Biden asked to do it, and whether or not the person carrying out the order is a current administration official, he is in fact acting on behalf of the U.S. government.
Secondly, the 76-year-old Todd and Biden are long-time friends, Biden once described Todd as “the best friend”. The two have worked together in the Senate for 30 years and have a deep friendship with each other. After Biden became the Democratic presidential candidate last year, Todd also participated in the selection process for his deputy.
It is clear that Todd is deeply trusted by Biden and can be entrusted with important responsibilities. As you know, in the United States, as long as a person has the knowledge and ability, it is not difficult to serve in the U.S. government.
Today is an ordinary citizen of the United States, but tomorrow by the president’s eyes, may be pulled into the government sector to serve. When you enter a government office, you are naturally a government official. Who can say that Todd and others will not become government officials again?
Third, Todd’s delegation will discuss a series of “sensitive issues” with Taiwan. According to diplomatic sources in Taiwan, the delegation will meet with Tsai Ing-wen in the morning of the 15th, and then meet with senior officials from Taiwan’s national security, foreign affairs and defense.
The diplomatic source said Taiwan officials are expected to tell the delegation that the Chinese Communist Party has recently been making provocative moves against Taiwan and the region, and that Taiwan will work to maintain regional stability. But they also expect the U.S. side to continue to enhance its support for Taiwan, including reaching concrete progress in the economic and trade and security areas, among others.
Fourth, the U.S. side described the visit of Todd and others to Taiwan as “unofficial,” or “civilian. But Biden gave them a special flight, a treatment not given to ordinary government officials.
The U.S. explained that the arrangement was made because of the “restrictions of the epidemic,” so a special flight was arranged. But the problem is that there are many ordinary U.S. citizens traveling during the epidemic, and I have not heard of the Biden administration sending a special plane to anyone.
From the above four points, we can see that Todd and others were enjoying special treatment from the Biden administration. Is there such a possibility that Todd was acting as a special envoy for Biden?
Think about one thing: The president of the United States does not have unlimited power; he is constrained by Congress. If Biden arranged a special plane for Todd and others is “fake public and private”, even if Congress does not come out to oppose, Republicans will also come out to oppose the criticism.
But we have not heard any criticism of Biden’s practice, which means that everyone is unaware of it. Maybe it’s true, as Ma said, that “unofficial” is just a “front”. As the saying goes, it’s better to overdo it than to talk about it.
The U.S. requested “secrecy” for the visit to Taiwan in early March
Whether or not Biden appointed him as a special envoy to Taiwan, Todd and his entourage will be a heavy blow to the Chinese Communist Party.
Huang Kui Bo, associate professor of diplomacy at National Chengchi University in Taiwan, said that the 42nd anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act is not a full number of 5 and 10. And on the day the news was made public, the visiting delegation had already arrived in Taiwan, “an extremely rare arrangement.”
Huang Kui Bo told Free Asia that the U.S. chose this time to send a mission to Taiwan, the Taiwan Relations Act “I’m afraid it’s only a superficial reason. The deeper reason is that “cross-strait relations are becoming increasingly tense, and Biden is sending a political message of full support to the people of Taiwan and assistance to Taiwan’s self-defense capabilities under the Taiwan Relations Act.
Huang also pointed out that although the U.S. side still sent a mission to Taiwan, it asked the ROC government to “keep the visit confidential and not to make a high profile when it takes place,” possibly because the U.S. side was under pressure from Beijing.
The U.S. side informed Taiwan in early March that Biden would send Todd to visit Taiwan during the 42nd anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act, sources told Reuters. But both sides have previously kept their mouths shut, not revealing the slightest whisper, apparently to prevent the Chinese Communist Party from making trouble.
In fact, in my opinion, although Biden and Todd’s visit to Taiwan is worthy of recognition, it is still a far cry from the Trump administration’s visit to Taiwan by then-Secretary of Health Azar and Under Secretary of State Kratch.
Because Trump sent the current administration officials, not to hide. And even if Biden sent “secret envoys”, Todd and others are not current government officials after all, and also give people the feeling of some sneakiness.
So you can’t help but suspect that Biden did this, perhaps as a last resort. There are two important reasons, it is worth playing carefully.
Republican pressure on Biden forced to be on the shelf?
On the one hand, the Chinese Communist Party’s threat of force against Taiwan is getting more and more serious, and the Biden administration has to respond a little.
As we all know, assisting in Taiwan’s defense is a decades-old U.S. commitment. The Chinese Communist Party does not dare to make rash moves, mainly because it is concerned about the U.S. side. But after Biden came to power, the Chinese Communist Party threatened Taiwan by force more and more frequently and with more and more recklessness. Not only have CCP military planes harassed Taiwan for many days in a row, but they have also set a new record for the highest single day in a row.
On March 26, the CCP sent 20 military aircraft to invade Taiwan’s airspace, which had already set a new single-day high at that time. But a few days later, on April 12, the CCP sent another 25 military sorties to harass Taiwan.
Seeing the growing threat to Taiwan from the CCP, the Biden administration would have broken faith with the international community, made its allies lose confidence in the United States, and perhaps even been laughed at if it had not made any gesture at all. More seriously, in the eyes of the Chinese Communist Party, Biden’s failure to respond to the CCP’s actions would be a sign of weakness and incompetence on the part of the Biden administration.
On the other hand, Biden may have been forced by the Republicans to take a step up.
In the past two days, the news that former Secretary of State Pompeo will visit Taiwan has been confirmed by the Taiwanese side. Although the timing of the visit has not been specifically determined, it is estimated that it will happen this year.
Pompeo was the head anti-communist figure during the Trump administration and a well-known hawkish general. He himself has repeatedly revealed that he is likely to run for the 2024 presidential election. Pompeo is a big favorite in terms of education, ability and diplomatic experience. If he realizes his trip to Taiwan, it will undoubtedly add a weight to his campaign path.
In addition, during the Trump administration, two incumbent officials, Azar and Kratch, were sent to Taiwan. A few days before he left office, Pompeo also planned to arrange a visit to Taiwan by then Ambassador to the United Nations Craft. Although Craft’s visit to Taiwan did not materialize in the end, the news already had considerable shock value.
This series of moves by the Republicans has a threefold significance. On the one hand, it deepens the relationship between the U.S. and Taiwan, and on the other hand, it is a heavy blow to the Chinese Communist Party. At the same time, for the Democratic Biden administration, this is tantamount to a “general”.
Because whether it is really tough on the Chinese Communist Party, the handling of the Taiwan issue can be seen as a yardstick. And whether or not it is tough on the Chinese Communist Party is another important item to win voters.
If the Biden administration shows weakness on the Taiwan issue, then it will probably cause the Democratic Party to lose public support. This will directly affect the midterm elections in 2022, which may cause the Democrats to lose control of both houses of Congress. At that time, Biden’s administration will be checked and balanced by the Republicans. And if Biden does nothing during his term, it will affect the presidential election in 2024.
So with all these factors in mind, Biden would have to respond a little to the Chinese Communist threat to Taiwan. Even if he is reluctant, he has to make some gesture. In other words, it’s being driven forward by the Republicans, being forced to take a step forward.
Kerry’s visit to China to give a big gift? Biden support Taiwan not anti-communist?
The U.S. State Department confirmed that Kerry will visit Shanghai, China, and Seoul, South Korea, from the 14th to the 17th to discuss raising global climate goals.
The Chinese Communist Party’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment said in a public WeChat post on the 14th that Kerry was invited by the Chinese side and will hold talks with Chinese climate envoy Xie Zhenhua in Shanghai.
Kerry told the Wall Street Journal on the 13th that the Biden administration would not compromise with the CCP on economic issues or human rights when negotiating a climate change deal. But it will not give in to the Chinese Communist Party on economic and human rights issues in order to reach a climate change deal. Maybe Kerry thinks so, but will the Chinese Communist Party think and act that way?
The Wall Street Journal quotes sources as saying that after meeting with Xie Zhenhua, Kerry will also meet with Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng. And there may also be talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Affairs Office Director Yang Jiechi. But there could be some variables in the schedule of these talks.
Kerry is the climate envoy, so what will he talk about when he meets with Han and others?
Wu Lan, director of the China Environment Forum at the Wilson Center, a Washington think tank, sees Kerry’s visit to China as a resumption of high-level U.S.-China interaction on climate change after a four-year pause.
She told Voice of America that climate change is important to both countries, “but the U.S. has some other important issues to talk to China [the Chinese Communist Party] about right now, and I don’t know how much room Kerry has to move around.”
And senior Republican Senator Rubio wrote on Fox 12 that the core of Biden’s climate plan is to shift large swaths of energy infrastructure to so-called “clean energy.” That means buying millions of solar panels, electric car charging stations and other expensive green infrastructure, “all of which China dominates the production industry.”
In other words, the solar panels the Biden administration wants Americans to install will come from China; the Chinese Communist Party’s industrial base will profit from them. Rubio said bluntly that Biden’s green energy plan is “a big gift to Beijing.
Rubio noted that in the past few years, the Chinese Communist Party has dominated the production of solar panels, such as polysilicon, with half of the world’s production now taking place in Xinjiang. “Clean energy is not clean when its production is tainted with the blood of forced labor.”
18 U.S. intelligence agencies: Chinese Communist Party tops threat
On the 13th, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released its Annual Threat Assessment for 2021, which warns that the United States and its allies will face “a wide range of threats” in the coming year. Among all the threats, China (the Chinese Communist Party) is pushing itself to become a global power. It is almost an equal in power to the United States and is one of the “greatest threats” to the United States.
The report lists the Chinese Communist Party at the top of the list of threats, followed by Russia, Iran and North Korea. The 27-page unclassified report said the Chinese Communist Party “challenges the United States in multiple areas, particularly economics, military and technology, and is driving changes in global norms.
The report outlines the collective view of 18 intelligence agencies that the CCP will continue to use a whole-of-government approach to “expand the CCP’s influence while weakening U.S. influence, creating divisions between Washington and its allies and partners, and fostering new international norms that favor the CCP’s authoritarian regime.”
At the same time, Communist leaders are employing tactics that tone down tensions with the United States when it suits the Communist Party’s interests. Beijing is increasingly combining military power with economic, technological and diplomatic clout to maintain Communist rule and gain what it perceives to be its own territorial and regional advantages, yet seeks international cooperation at the expense of Washington.
In addition the Chinese Communist Party’s growing threat of cyber attacks on the United States “could cause at least localized, temporary damage to critical infrastructure within the United States.” And the Chinese Communist Party will continue to expand its nuclear arsenal and diversify its platforms to form a trinity of nuclear systems, meaning a triple nuclear weapons strike capability with land-based ICBMs, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and strategic bombers at the same time.
This report has made it very clear that the Chinese Communist Party has become the primary threat to the United States. But as Rubio said, Biden is giving the Chinese Communist Party a big gift, sacrificing tens of thousands of American jobs to buy the Communist Party’s “clean energy” with blood.
House Foreign Affairs Committee Republican Leader Michael McCaul said in a statement yesterday (13) that Kerry’s trip to China “sends an absolutely wrong signal. He said, “The United States should work with countries that want to solve international problems, not with countries that create or exacerbate them.”
Carlos goes on mansion buying spree Black Lives Matter expensive infighting
Two days ago, the show talked about Patrice Carlos, one of the founders of Black Lives Matter, spending $1.4 million on a luxury home in a white California neighborhood. But this house is only one of the high-end homes in Carlos’ name, and there are rumors that she has already bought four suites, with a total price tag of more than $3 million. But her frenzy to buy houses has also raised questions within the Black Lives Matter and has caused infighting.
The New York Post reported that Carlos was on a “real estate buying spree” and that she had bought four high-end homes. Three in Los Angeles and one in Georgia. The one in Georgia has an indoor pool and even a small hangar and airstrip.
Sports columnist Jason Wheelock 9 satirized Carlos, saying, “The founder of Black Lives Matter spent $1.4 million on a house in Topanga Canyon with 1.4 percent black residents. She’s with white people she doesn’t like!”
Conservative writer and commentator Candace Owens questioned, “If white people are so bad, why wouldn’t Carlos want to live among black people?”
In fact, while people are confused by Carlos’ buying spree in white neighborhoods, they are also questioning where her money comes from. “The Daily Caller News Foundation found that Carlos, co-founder and executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, earned more than $20,000 a month in 2019 while serving as president of the Los Angeles Prison Reform Organization.
However, according to financial records submitted to the California Fair Political Practices Commission, Reform L.A. Prison paid Carlos $191,000 on seven occasions in 2019 through Janaya & Patrice Consulting. The consulting firm is named after Carlos and her husband, Janaya Kan.
In other words, with this amount of money, Carlos could not have accumulated more than $3 million in just 2 years. So where did her money come from?
The Associated Press previously revealed that the “Black Lives Matter” campaign received $90 million in donations last year. How Carlos spent the money is anyone’s guess. But after Carlos bought a house in a predominantly white neighborhood, the Black Lives Matter movement began to question her.
Carlos tells you she’s a Marxist,” says Owens, who is also black. And Marxists steal money from people to make themselves rich until the people they steal from become poor. And Carlos is using the lie ‘black lives are expensive’ as an excuse to steal money from others.”
The unknown destination of the donations is sure to cause infighting, and questions come from within the Black Lives Matter. The head of Black Lives Matter in the greater New York area, Newsso, called for an independent investigation into how the global network spends its money. If you go around claiming to be a socialist, you have to ask how much of her own personal money goes to charity,” Nusso questioned.
Can Carlos respond to Nusso’s challenge? Let’s stay tuned.
Pfizer vaccine arrives in China, authorities hide news
On the morning of the 14th, I received a message from a friend on the mainland saying that her family had been vaccinated. After receiving the vaccine, her blood pressure suddenly rose to 170 and 120, and she went to the hospital for emergency treatment. But the emergency room was unattended, and cash had to be paid. But this friend did not have much cash with him at that time, fortunately, a colleague helped to advance the payment first, which was able to play two shots of antihypertensive drugs. When his blood pressure slowly dropped to 140, he dared to go home and rest.
This friend also told me that if I didn’t get the vaccine, my workplace would not let me go to work. He also said that this is the way it is now, the evil party is pressuring people with their jobs. Because the local vaccination rate was very low and did not complete the task, the local officials were criticized from above.
In other words, the local officials are forcing people to get vaccinated in a jerky way in order to keep the black hat on their heads. In fact, the Chinese Communist Party does everything in this kind of campaign-style tossing and turning, coming up in a flurry. They don’t care whether the vaccine is effective or not, and whether it is harmful to the human body, they just want to fulfill the target and complete the task, and get benefits for themselves.
But in reality, how many people in mainland China believe in it? According to the National Health Commission of the Communist Party of China, as of April 10, only 164.47 million people have been vaccinated, which is less than 10% of the total number of people vaccinated, far short of the Communist Party’s goal of “building an immune barrier”.
As we all know, Gao Fu, the director of the CDC, admitted a few days ago that the protective power of domestic vaccines is poor. In other words, the Chinese Communist Party experts admitted in front of the facts that the efficiency of the vaccines produced in China is low, and the Chinese Communist Party media also reported it.
If the CCP admits that the efficiency of domestic vaccines is low, why do they still force people to take them? If the CCP is not harming people, what is it? If it is really for the good of the Chinese people, then take out the Pfizer vaccine that just arrived in China and give it to the Chinese people to use.
On the 13th, the mainland Fosun Group announced that the first batch of Pfizer vaccine had arrived and claimed to be strictly for clinical use. Fosun also said that vaccination with Pfizer vaccine “must be paid for”.
The people are willing to pay for the vaccine to save their lives. Mr. Chen, a resident of Wuhan, told Free Asia, “The people all want to save their lives, and to save their lives they must choose the safest and best (vaccine), spending money is secondary, but the main thing is to save their lives. If the vaccine is not safe, life can not be preserved, money for what? That’s why the safety of the vaccine is the most important.”
Zhang Hai, a family member of a victim of the Chinese Communist virus, also said he would choose the Pfizer vaccine. He said, “Foreign vaccines have higher efficiency and protection than domestic vaccines. The Pfizer vaccine is self-paying, but if it is available, I believe many people are willing to get it, even if the price is higher. Because life is their own, health is the most important thing.”
But just a few hours later, the news, which was widely circulated in WeChat groups on the 13th, was blocked today and the relevant content was deleted cleanly.
Wang Qian, a member of the mainland medical community, told Free Asia, “The articles are now deleted from WeChat, being harmonized.” Wang Qian saw someone repost the news this morning, “but it was immediately deleted, the vaccine thing itself is quite sensitive.”
Wang Qian said, “Now in China, you can’t see objective and fair reports about vaccines. The people can only see that there are people dying from vaccination abroad, and there are deaths from vaccination at home, and they (the people) can’t see that.”
Wang Qian pointed out that Fosun was sneaky when it ordered 100 million vaccines on Dec. 17 last year. The official media made a report, “but did not say that it ordered Pfizer, saying that it ordered a vaccine from a medical institution in Germany, which is actually a Pfizer vaccine.”
The authorities are sneaky, and now they are deleting the news about it. The Chinese often say that good things don’t happen behind people’s backs, and nothing good happens behind people’s backs.
Current affairs commentator Lan Shu said, Fosun imported 100 million Pfizer vaccines, although the Chinese Communist Party did not say where they went, and also covered up. In fact, the more it covers up, the more problematic it is. If it does not say, people can also think about it.
According to Lan, the shelf life of Pfizer vaccine is only 20 days, and it will expire if it is not given. Therefore, nine out of ten of the 100 million imported Pfizer vaccines were secretly given to CCP officials, party members and their family members, and only these privileged people could receive Pfizer vaccines. Only these privileged people can receive Pfizer vaccines. The fact that Chinese Communist Party officials do not receive domestic vaccines but imported vaccines is proof that they do not trust domestic vaccines either.
