The U.S. National Security Agency on Tuesday (13) found vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s email service, Exchange Server, and Deputy National Security Adviser Michael Newberg then issued a rare directive instructing all government departments to urgently install fixes for servers to prevent hackers from taking advantage of them.
The National Security Agency notified Microsoft of the four vulnerabilities in Exchange, and Newberg said in a statement that Washington was aware that the vulnerabilities could pose a systemic risk and that timely disclosure was necessary. Microsoft said it has not found anyone exploiting the vulnerabilities so far, but it believes hackers will study the fixes to see what Microsoft has fixed and then attack computers that are not fixed.
Earlier this year, the United States has more than 20,000 local Exchange server by a large-scale network attack, the server involved mainly to deal with the network version of Outlook mail, and the server now has a new vulnerability.
