Dr. Fauci, the White House’s chief medical advisor, appeared on The Mehdi Hasan Show on Microsoft NBC on Sunday, where Dr. Fauci rejoined that Americans will likely need booster shots to maintain the vaccine’s level of protection.
Below is a transcript of the interview with Dr. Fauci.
The moderator asked, “Should we, like the flu shot, get a booster shot of the coronavirus vaccine every 6 or 12 months? Is that something we should plan for? “
Dr. Fauci replied, “We need to be careful with the 6-month number. This study was only conducted for 6 months, and we can be sure that the vaccine is effective for 6 months, but it is also highly likely that it will be effective for a significant period of time. The way to get an answer is to follow the population closely and determine when the level of protection from the vaccine decreases. “
The good news, concludes Breitbart News, is that the vaccine provides protection for at least six months, and hopefully longer. But to answer the host’s question directly, that is, if the vaccine provides protection for 1 or 1 1/2 years, then a booster shot will likely be needed to maintain the vaccine’s level of protection.
