Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) released a military update tonight, revealing a large number of Chinese military aircraft attacking Taiwan’s southwest airspace today. According to the information revealed by Taiwan’s national army, 25 sorties of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) entered Taiwan’s southwest airspace air defense identification zone from the airspace south of the center line of the Taiwan Strait today.
According to a report in the Free Times today, the Chinese military planes are out in force, with a record 25 sorties disturbing Taiwan’s southwest airspace in a single day. The Taiwan Air Force dispatched air patrol troops to respond, broadcast repulsions, and anti-aircraft missiles to chase and monitor the situation.
According to the report, it is worth noting that this is also the record for the most number of sorties by Chinese military aircraft in the peripheral airspace of Taiwan since the Ministry of National Defense set up a special area for “instant military updates” on Sept. 17 last year.
The next highest number of sorties was 20 on March 26 this year.
According to the information revealed by the Taiwan National Army’s “Military Update” section, the Chinese military aircraft that disturbed Taiwan today included two “Yun-8” anti-submarine aircraft, one “Air Marshal-500” early warning aircraft, and four “J-10” aircraft. The Chinese military planes today included two “Yun-8” anti-submarine aircraft, one “Air Marshal-500” early warning aircraft, four “J-10” fighter jets, four “Boom-6K” bombers, and as many as 14 “J-16” fighter jets.
