The European Union has imposed tariffs on Chinese exports of flat-rolled aluminum products in an effort to curb competition faced by EU producers. According to the EU’s official communiqué, the tariffs are intended to penalize exporters of Chinese flat-rolled aluminum products that are dumped in the EU below cost at rates ranging from 19.3 percent to 46.7 percent, depending on the exporter.
The import duty is the preliminary result of an investigation launched in August 2020. The tariff will take effect on Tuesday (13) for six months, with a possible extension of five years.
