The elderly father of Jilin rights activist Guo Hongwei, who was persecuted to death, kneels to beg the nation to do justice to his son.
Jilin rights activist Guo Hongwei was persecuted to death in prison, and the prison authorities have yet to give any explanation. His 85-year-old father has many questions about his son’s death, and he says he will go through the judicial process to seek justice for his son.
Guo Hongwei’s father, Guo Yinqi, recorded a video in which he said, “Guo Hongwei was retaliated against for reporting corrupt officials in order to protect state property. My son, my partner and my daughter were framed and imprisoned, and my son died in prison. I kneel down and ask everyone to help me, an 85-year-old man, to redress the grievances, please, I kowtow to everyone!”
Prison: does not meet the conditions of medical parole
Guo Hongwei originally served his sentence in Jilin Province’s Songwon Prison, where he was often mistreated by the prison authorities, locked up in a small, drugged, and beaten to the point where people were rolling their eyes. Guo Hongwei’s parents kept going to the prison administration to reflect their request for a prison transfer and to apply for medical parole for him.
In November 2020, Guo Hongwei was transferred from Songwon Prison to Gongzhuling Prison, and on March 15, the prison authorities sent him to the provincial prison (Changchun City) hospital for medical parole, where he was hospitalized for a week before being sent back to Gongzhuling Prison.
Guo Hongwei’s father, Guo Yinqi, told reporters, “He was not allowed to call back to the prison, nor did he tell us the results of the identification. I asked the prison what the results of Guo Hongwei’s parole evaluation were. Only then did the prison authorities say that he did not meet the requirements. They are just dragging on not allowing medical parole, not to come out, on this purpose.”
The doctor: before being sent to the hospital has been unconscious for more than two hours
April 4, 9:00 pm, Guo Yinqi suddenly received a call from the prison police, said Guo Hongwei brain hemorrhage to surgery, let them go over to Jilin Guowen Hospital to sign. “We arrived at the hospital and said to see Guo Hongwei before surgery, prison guards said he is now unconscious do not need to see, blocking not to see. After the surgery also do not allow to see, after the death of people also do not allow to see, is not this very strange?”
According to Guo Yinqi, this hospital is private, specializing in oncology hospital, there is no open-heart surgery conditions. “Less than one day surgery twice, from the early morning of the 4th to the morning of the 5th more than 4 o’clock, after surgery we asked to see Guo Hongwei side, or not allowed to see. In the afternoon came 6 o’clock and do a second surgery. After surgery the doctor said the pupil has spread, to the family to prepare for the aftermath.”
At 10:49 a.m. on April 9, Guo Hongwei breathed his last. “We asked the hospital for medical records before the doctor said that the person was already unconscious and unable to do it while in prison, and it took more than two hours to get to the hospital. This is what the prison guard said to the doctor. We suspect that it may be even longer and already not working before being sent to the hospital, delaying the resuscitation time.”

Why was the skull removed during the brain hemorrhage surgery?
During the operation, Guo Hongwei’s skull was taken off a piece about 10 cm long, and the doctor showed the family and did not allow pictures. It said that the hospital unified processing.
The reporter repeatedly called Dr. Jiang Fucheng of Jilin Guowen Hospital, who was responsible for Guo Hongwei’s operation, but his cell phone has not been able to make a sound. The reporter switched to a different telecom operator’s line to call, but still couldn’t hear his voice.
In the middle of the interview with Guo Yinqi, the reporter had to interrupt the interview and redial because of serious interference.
Persecution in Prison
When Guo Yinqi chatted with prison guards while in the hospital, the guards told him that Guo Hongwei always said he did not have enough to eat. Guo believes, “The average prisoner is well fed, but why is Guo Hongwei always underfed? He was persecuted in the original Songwon prison, and the corpse will speak. I am ready to hire a lawyer to sue the prison.”
Wang Jing: medical parole is a scam
It is reported that the provincial prison (Changchun City) hospital is a hospital that specializes in giving medical treatment, identification and physical examination to prisoners.
Wang Jing, a citizen journalist for Skynet who once served time in Jilin Women’s Prison and now lives in exile overseas, told the Daji reporter, “Guo Hongwei, a Jilin comrade of mine who worked together in China on the streets to defend rights and protest judicial corruption in the CCP, is not that bad.”
Wang Jing, who had a medical parole appraisal while serving her sentence, said, “My personal experience tells me that medical parole in Jilin prisons is a scam, a ghost gate, especially for petitioners and political prisoners.”
“Unprofessional hospitals like this one, where intern doctors are using prison inmates to practice and learn, good people who can give intern doctors practice!”
Liaoning petitioner Jiang Jiawen, who met Guo Hongwei while petitioning in Beijing and then became close friends, expressed deep sorrow over Guo Hongwei’s death! He also said, “This is something I expected, because the government would not let him out of prison alive.”
