The Indian Express, an English-language daily newspaper that circulates in nine major cities in India, recently misused a photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin in a story about sexual assault.

Indian domestic readers and international media found that the Indian Express newspaper April 7, one of the pages of the paper news, Mumbai, 28-year-old journalist Varun Hiremath, accused of sexual assault, the Delhi High Court issued a warrant for his arrest without bail, to bring him back to the investigation, but the newspaper published a photo of not the suspect, but a smiling Russian President Putin.

After the news broke, the Indian Express issued a statement through its official Twitter account, saying that the online version of the story had not been mistakenly planted, but that the paper version had printed the photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin due to a technical error, and that the Indian Express would like to offer its sincere apologies for any disturbance caused, and that the necessary follow-up process was underway.

Many Indian netizens think this incident is quite ridiculous, “how can the photo of another head of state be misused”, “I hope Putin did not see”, “scared me, I thought something had happened “, but some netizens thought it was harmless, claiming that “I did finish reading this news because of Putin”, “This photo with this news article is really interesting”, “It’s nothing It’s just the wrong (photo)”.
