New York Governor Cuomo has spent a total of $650,000 in taxpayer dollars over the past five years to fly upstate for various events, according to the analysis.
The New York Post cited a Business Insider analysis that found the state-owned twin-propeller King One flew 460 flights between 2015 and 2020, for a total of 400 hours. The King One is the same aircraft that Lindsey Boylan, the governor’s aide, previously accused Cuomo of speaking and acting inappropriately toward her on the plane.
The report said Cuomo often took helicopter trips to and from New York, Westchester County and Long Island, but did not calculate the expenses involved, and it noted that state records contained some suspicious items, such as the fact that some trips lasted only 15 minutes, but there was no record of the return trip.
A spokesman for Cuomo responded that the report is based on speculation and inference, not fact, and that flying is the most efficient way for the governor to get around the state in a day to attend events and meetings.
Flying to and from places can save a lot of time compared to driving, for example, from the capital city of Albany to Buffalo, it only takes one hour to fly, but it takes four hours to drive.
Aircraft consulting and education company Conklin & de Decker vice president mentioned to the Post, similar to the “King One” such as a twin-propeller aircraft, taking into account the cost of fuel, maintenance and landing fees, the cost per hour about $ 161616, and this part does not include crew wages, insurance and hangar expenses, etc. This does not include crew wages, insurance and hangar expenses.
