A water seepage accident occurred yesterday at the Fengyuan coal mine in Hutubi County, Xinjiang Province, China, during a technical renovation, leaving 21 people trapped. Official sources say that 12 people have been trapped, while the location of the other nine is still unknown. A water seepage accident occurred at the Fengyuan coal mine in Hutubi County, Xinjiang Prefecture, China on the 10th, leaving 21 people trapped.

According to the Central News Agency today, quoting official Chinese news, the Xinjiang Fengyuan coal mine was suddenly hit by a water leak at around 6 p.m. yesterday during a technical renovation, resulting in a power outage and communication breakdown. At the time of the accident, there were 29 people underground, eight of whom were rescued, while 21 others were trapped. The location of 12 of the trapped people has been determined, while the exact location of the other 9 has not yet been determined.

The news also said that rescuers have now connected each pipe of about 10 meters long into the well, but because of the narrow operating space, only 5 meters, so to complete the welding, transport difficult. The rescuers are currently working on the extension of the pipeline laying, after the completion of the well to pump out the water.
