Exosonic, Inc. has been contracted by the U.S. Air Force to design a supersonic presidential and executive jet that can reach speeds of Mach 1.8. The picture shows the presidential jet that former U.S. President Donald Trump (Trump) once flew.
The U.S. media revealed last September that the U.S. military had contracted with two start-up companies to develop a supersonic presidential jet. One of the companies that signed the contract, Exosonic, has released the interior design of its aircraft, the interior is quite luxurious and comfortable.
According to CNN, Exosonic proposed a bass-burst (low-boom) twin-engine jet concept and won the Air Force’s “presidential and executive transport aircraft” contract. The executive jet can reach a speed of Mach 1.8 (about 2,222 kilometers per hour) and has a tentative seating capacity of 70, with 31 passengers and a maximum range of 9,260 kilometers.
The company also revealed that the functions of the presidential jet will vary according to needs, but this “ultimate product in the field of business jets” may first be used as the vice presidential jet “Supersonic Air Force II”. But if it is a presidential executive jet, the cabin will also be significantly modified.
Stephanie Chahan, Exosonic’s chief aircraft interior designer, told CNN, “In this concept, we plan to use new technologies that are not currently in use or that you have not seen in commercial aircraft.”
The report noted that the interior of the airliner will feature the finest leather, oak and quartz accessories and two suites on board, including a three-person conference room with a secure video teleconferencing system for VIPs to work or speak to the media, and a larger eight-person conference room with lie-flat seats and height-adjustable tables where senior officials can work or relax.
In addition, the main cabin can accommodate 20 business class seats, and there are two galleys, two restrooms and ample storage space on board.
Norris Tie, CEO of Exosonic, said the future of global fast passenger travel is bass-burst supersonic flight, which allows aircraft to fly at supersonic speeds without making a lot of noise to ground passengers.
The company expects the supersonic luxury airliner to lift off in the mid-1930s, about fifteen years from now.
Meanwhile, Hermeus, an Atlanta-based company that works with the U.S. Air Force to develop supersonic executive jets that can reach Mach 5 (about 6,125 kilometers per hour), completed engine prototype testing last February and can carry 20 passengers.
At present, it takes nearly seven hours to fly from New York to London, if the speed of Mach 5 supersonic passenger aircraft, can reduce the seven-hour journey to 90 minutes.
In fact, in the past, supersonic airliners, the most difficult obstacle to popularization lies in the occurrence of “treble burst”, that is, when the aircraft is flying at high altitudes faster than the speed of sound (343 m / s), people on the ground will hear a loud noise similar to a thunderstorm. Now with technological advances, supersonic airliners are expected to solve the problem of huge sonic boom, so that people from the supersonic era a step further.
