Biden circumvents Trump law, delivers $250 million in aid to Palestine, UN praises

The Breitbart News reported Thursday 8 that the United Nations’ so-called Palestinian refugee agency, UNRWA ((UNRWA), praised the Biden administration the same day for providing $250 million in funding while sidestepping the 2018 Trump-signed Taylor Force Act, which prevents U.S. taxpayer funds from supporting the Palestinian Authority.

Secretary Blinken said the U.S. program includes $75 million for economic and development assistance in the West Bank and Gaza, $10 million for peacebuilding projects through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and $150 million for humanitarian assistance from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Biden’s direct assistance to Palestine, and the fact that he is not asking for any concessions or anything in return, is in direct contrast to President Trump’s position.

In 2018, President Trump signed the Taylor Force Act, a law that prevents the U.S. from providing financial support and other funding to the Palestinian Authority while the PA continues to provide stipends to families of deceased terrorists or to pay terrorists in Israeli prisons. Trump also cut funding to UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) due to concerns that the agency supports terrorist activities. The Taylor Force Act allows only limited humanitarian relief, such as funding for vaccination programs.
