Gunmen kidnapped Chinese workers in Nigeria.

There have been two attacks and kidnappings of Chinese workers in Nigeria recently, in which four Chinese nationals were kidnapped and one Chinese was killed.

The first case happened on Monday (5) around 4 p.m., several gunmen kidnapped two Chinese workers, aged 33 and 50, and shot and wounded two private guards responsible for protecting foreigners at a gold mine in Osun State in the southwest, reportedly demanding a ransom of 10 million Nigerian naira (about 200,000 Hong Kong dollars), and the police are looking for the culprits.

The second case occurred on Wednesday (7) 7:30 am, a group of gunmen in the southeastern Benue State (Benue) a construction site ambush, intended to work in the place adverse, when they saw workers have police protection, they opened fire on each other, and eventually two police officers and a Chinese worker was killed, and two other Chinese engineers were kidnapped. The gunmen are suspected to be the remnants of a late local terrorist leader.

A spokesman for the Benue State Police said that additional police officers were deployed to the incident site to hunt down the culprits and rescue the abductees.
