The Gateway Pundit reported Wednesday 7 that the defense attorney for former Minneapolis police officer Shovan played audio of Floyd while in custody, where Floyd said, “I took too many drugs.”
Defense attorney Eric J. Nelson said Floyd resisted being put into the police car when Floyd said, “I can’t breathe.” However, that was before Officer Shovan’s knee came near Floyd.
Floyd’s autopsy revealed that he had ingested lethal amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Attorney Nielsen said at the start of the trial, “It’s called a speedball – a mixture of opioids and stimulants. The evidence will show that Mr. Floyd died of an arrhythmia, the result of high blood pressure, his coronary artery disease, the ingestion of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and the adrenaline coursing through his body.”
Opioids, which are chemicals with morphine effects.
Methamphetamine, a potent central nervous system stimulant, is used primarily in drugs and less frequently in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and obesity.
Fentanyl is a potent, opioid analgesic with a rapid onset of action and a very short duration of action. It is a potent agonist of mu-opioid receptors in the brain. Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine.
