Hebei Dawu Agricultural Group founder Sun Dawu, his family and company executives and other 30 people were arrested by Hebei police last November on suspicion of committing provocation and illegal absorption of public deposits. On April 7, Sun’s sister-in-law, Yan Yuxiang, and the group’s legal director, Yang Bin, were barred from participating in company meetings and taken to the police station for questioning by special police.

In this open letter to the staff of the Dawu Group, the two people thanked the staff for their perseverance and support, and introduced that they have now hired “a number of top legal teams in China, including Chi Changsheng, Yang Bin, Wang Wanqiong, etc. to intervene in the case, and hired Zheng Cheng Yue as the group’s adviser”, “the lawyers met to understand, initially The lawyers have met and understood that most of the charges in this case cannot be substantiated, let alone constituting involvement in black or evil”.
The open letter said, on the one hand, the legal team will submit opinions and evidence, and on the other hand, Yan Yuxiang and Zhou Hongyun will also start to reply to the company’s independent operation.
Unexpectedly, the two were banned from participating in the company’s meetings after four days.
Yang Bin tweeted that day, the police said they “obstructed the order of the meeting”, “Dawu Group’s boss and staff in their own office area, can not participate in their own group meeting, and then was ‘provoked’! ” “Dawu Group is still a private enterprise or not? Who is in charge of this company now?”
This microblog was then “disappeared”. However, Yang Bin again in the early hours of the 8th in the microblogging message that he had left the Gaolin Village police station at 11:00 pm on the 7th, “safe and sound back to Dawu City”.
Previously on microblogging an article detailing the progress of the Sun Dawu case, “Dawu case ten questions and ten answers”, was made by Yang Bin. In the article, Yang Bin revealed that the legal team is concerned that the official intends to forcibly elevate the Dawu case to a gang-related, evil-related case, so that the government may confiscate the Dawu Group’s properties.
The former University of Macau professor Cheng Tiejun, who has known Sun Dawu for many years, told Radio Free Asia that if the official does so, it seems like “to fight the collapse, first fight the stink” of the rhythm, “This is a complete reversal of black and white, discrediting the image of Dawu.”

Cheng Tiejun believes that Dawu Group does not rely on loans, does not rely on state investment, completely by their own struggle to accumulate, such endogenous enterprises, is the pride of China, such enterprises you have to pinch it to death, the people will rebound, the more critical is that this is against the general direction of history, retrograde. He called on “conscientious, understanding leaders must be carefully considered” to deal with the case of Dawu with tolerance.
