At only 12 years old, Xu Ruihang has been in contact with the twister dice since the first grade, and has won nine championships in various events since then.
He set a Chinese record in January this year with an average of 6.21 seconds for five times in the third stage preliminary round of the Jiangxi Nanchang Wu’an Tournament. After the race, he donated 10,000 RMB (about HK$11,900) to help children in poor areas.
His mother mentioned in an interview that her son was not fully gifted, but was later discovered by his teacher to be very fast, and the fastest he could reach was 13 steps per second, compared to the 8 steps per second required by masters. In addition, because the son is self-disciplined and only spends half an hour a day practicing, he is able to balance the time allocated to study and twist the dice.
