Gun embarrassment data: 126 times more people die from falls than any rifle category

Breitbart News reports that U.S. federal cause of death data shows that just in 2018, falls caused at least 126 times more deaths than deaths from any kind of rifle, an inconvenient truth for Democratic lawmakers currently calling for a new round of gun control nationwide.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Vital Statistics for 2018 show that 37,455 people died from unintentional falls throughout the year, and figures from the FBI Unified Crime Report show the number of people who died from intentional, criminal use of firearms. According to FBI figures, a total of 297 people died from any kind of rifle in 2018, meaning there were 126 times as many deaths from unintentional falls as there were intentional deaths from any kind of rifle in 2018. Democrats want to ban AR-15s, AK-47s and other common semi-automatic rifles, which also account for only a small fraction of deaths from the use of any kind of rifle.

Breitbart News reported other FBI data from 2018 showing that the number of people killed by hammers and clubs also far exceeded the number of people killed by rifles of any kind. There were 297 deaths by rifles and 443 deaths by hammers, clubs or other “blunt” weapons.
