China, South Korea agree on Xi Jinping’s visit

Yonhap News Agency reports that Chinese Communist Party Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated during a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong today that he will push for a visit by Communist Party President Xi Jinping to South Korea as soon as possible; Chung, in turn, said he will prepare for Xi’s visit.

“We decided to prepare for President Xi’s visit as soon as the 2019 viral disease (COVID-19) outbreak stabilizes,” Jung told reporters after the talks.

The two foreign ministers agreed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation through various dialogue channels between the two countries, Yonhap reported. The Chinese side reiterated that it will promote Xi’s visit to South Korea as soon as possible and maintain close communication with the ROK side in this regard.

The two sides agreed that it is necessary for the three sides to continue to strengthen cooperation in order to facilitate the Korea-China-Japan leadership talks as soon as possible.
