More than 170,000 people detained at U.S.-Mexico border in March Nearly 20,000 children, what about a border without borders

A recent report by the Washington Examiner, citing preliminary data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, revealed that more than 171,000 immigrants were detained at the border in March.

The Biden administration’s reversal of immigration policy has resulted in nearly 10,000 unaccompanied children, pouring across the border in February alone. The report said more than 100,000 immigrants were detained at the U.S.-Mexico border in February for crossing the border illegally, 9,457 of whom were unaccompanied children.

Preliminary figures from Customs and Border Protection show that 18,800 unaccompanied children were detained in March, according to the Washington Post.

In February, 19,246 families were detained among immigrants who crossed the border illegally, up from 7,294 in January. Customs and Border Protection detained 5,300 families, according to the most recent data available for March.

A current U.S. Customs and Border Protection official and a former official who had seen the preliminary data both confirmed the accuracy of the data, the report said. The report analyzed the “vertical growth curve” in the number of illegal border crossings in the first three months of 2021 as higher than any comparable period in the past 20 years.

The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security also said in a statement March 16, “We will experience more people at the Southwest border than we have in the past 20 years.” “We are defending our borders, carrying out the public health responsibilities of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to protect the American public and immigrants, and to protect children. We have more work to do.”

Biden administration’s immigration policies led to crisis

Since taking office, Biden has rescinded, by executive order, agreements signed under the Trump administration with Mexico and three Central American countries to restrict illegal immigration into the U.S. He has also stopped deporting criminal aliens with court orders for deportation and has required border enforcement officers to implement a “catch and release” policy for illegal immigrants.

On April 1, Congressman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), who is visiting the border, said that Biden’s policy allows criminal groups to use children as passports.

FOX News reported that in February, Mexican human trafficking rings made $411 million in profits, with the highest single-day profit reaching $14 million.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said the trafficking ring is openly using the short-form video sharing app Tiktok to recruit members, lured by the huge market.

Texas Department of Public Safety Secretary Colonel Steve McCraw said traffickers don’t care about life and can throw 6-month-old babies into the water. They beat, rape, starve and even abandon children.

On March 31, U.S. Border Patrol officials tweeted a surveillance video of two traffickers, who threw a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old girl, over a 4-meter-high border wall, into the U.S. at night and then fled. Texas border enforcement officers then rescued the two girls.

The Border Patrol issued a statement saying the two children were from Ecuador. Border enforcement will work with Mexican authorities to bring the suspects to justice.

To combat drug and human trafficking rings along the border, the Texas government launched “Operation Lone Star” on March 4, with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the National Guard assisting border enforcement officers to secure the border.

Governor Abbott issued a statement on March 6 saying: “The crisis at the southern border continues to escalate due to the Biden administration’s refusal to secure the border and invite illegal immigration. Texas supports legal immigration, but will not be an accomplice to open border policies that lead to a humanitarian crisis in Texas and endanger Texan lives.

“In less than a month since the launch of Operation Lone Star, border enforcement officials have arrested 598 criminals and more than 1,6000 illegal immigrants, and Texas Governor Abbott emphasized that while Operation Lone Star has made significant gains, the Biden administration should take responsibility and not do nothing.

Abbott said, “The Biden administration was completely unprepared for the huge crowds that crossed the border.” For the current border situation, Biden has not come up with a solution so far, although he authorized Vice President Harris to handle it.
